Houghton Citizens organize school bond millage Q&A with Scott MacInnes

Residents in Houghton and Portage Township decide on the HPTS school bond extension millage in just a few days. In recent weeks residents may notice new political signs, calling for a vote no on the proposed school district millage. Those signs have been placed by residents concerned that the district could take on an additional 46 million dollars in debt, on an existing 22 million dollar bond-related debt. The Houghton Citizens Group plans to host a public meeting to discuss how the potential millage will impact taxpayers. The Houghton Citizens’ meeting will be led by former Houghton city manager Scott  MacInnes. The meeting will occur at the Bonfire in Houghton from 5 to 7 pm. Additionally, the group has organized a website, Houghton citizens dot com. Those interested in learning more about the Houghton Portage Township bond millage extension proposal can find more information below.

The Q&A with Houghton Citizens will begin at 5 pm on Wednesday October 30th at the Bonfire in Houghton.
