Obituary: William M. Johnson

William M. Johnson, 62, a resident of Ontonagon passed away Tuesday evening, October 22, 2024, at his home from metastatic lung cancer in his femur. 
 
      He was born on July 21, 1962, in Howell, MI, a son of the late William and Manon (Barber) Johnson. Bill was raised in Gobles, MI, and attended the Gobles Schools.
 
     When William turned seventeen, he enlisted with the United States Marines and was the youngest Marine at that time. Mr. Johnson made a career being a Marine Sniper and retired due to health issues after a few tours.
 
     He then began a career as a dispatcher for Same Day Delivers in Grand Rapids, MI. William worked with them until his health would no longer allow him to do so. 
 
     On December 16, 2006, he was united in marriage to the former Jill Shoen. The couple had resided in Belding, MI, before moving to make their home in Ontonagon in 2008.
 
     Mr. Johnson was a former member of the Ontonagon Baptist Church and currently attended the North Star Baptist Church in South Range. Bill enjoyed time outdoors hunting, fishing and shooting. He was always a person to fight for the right causes such as helping allow veterans to take wound vacs home or allow foster parents to have guns at home which he was interviewed by Fox News for.
 
     Preceding him in death were his parents.
 
     Surviving are:  His wife Jill Johnson; His Children: Angela Johnson, Alexandria (Zacary Connolly) Denman , & Benjiman Denman; His grandchildren: Kalie Taylor, Cameron Wright, Madilynn Taylor, Oliver Denman, Phoebe Gorman, & CJ Gorman; His great-grandchildren: Maelani, Ariel, and Layla; His Pops: Jack Blalock; His brothers & sisters; Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
 
     As requested, no service will be held for William at this time.
