Margaret T. “Muggs” Rowloff, age 74 of Baraga, MI passed away at her home on Friday, October 18, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Baraga, MI on February 1, 1950 the daughter of the late Archie and Margaret (Shelafoe) Knapp. In her younger years, she had met her first husband Forrest Potts at the carnival in town and they traveled and enjoyed the carnival life for 22 years. After returning to the area, Muggs had been employed with Baraga County Home Care. She married William Rowloff in 2003 and he preceded her in death in 2009. She had been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, Houghton, the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community and the Ojibwa Senior Center. Muggs loved spending time with her great granddaughter Marley and taking care of her entire family. She enjoyed traveling and shopping.
Muggs is survived by her loving children, Harold Potts of Paris, Arkansas, Angela Potts and Waynette Rice both of Baraga, grandchildren Marcus, James, Heaven, Summer and Anthony, great grandchildren Riley, Riker, Lakelynn, Bentley, Bailey and Marley, sister Brenda McKittrick of Baraga and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William, son Mark, her children’s father and her friend Forrest Potts, sisters Louella, Nancy, and Mary, brothers Johnny, Chico, Teeny, Wally, and Sonny.
Visitation with traditional native drumming will be held at Zeba Hall beginning at 5.p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024. Margaret’s funeral service will be held at the Zeba Hall at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 with a feast to follow. Interment will take place in the Pinery Cemetery, L’Anse, MI.
