No New Ballot Proposal Expected For Road Funding

It appears that Michigan voters will not be asked to tackle another ballot proposal to fix the roads as some key lawmakers say that option is off the table.

All but one of the seven members of a new House committee charged with finding a long term fix for the roads including a possible new revenue stream said they were against putting the sales tax on the ballot. The other was undecided.

Even the road building lobbyist concedes voters should be left out of the next proposal. The governor does not embrace another ballot question either.

Roads and Economic Development Committee chair Republican State Representative Jeff Farrington of Utica promises some votes by June 2nd.
