The Keweenaw Land Trust names B Lauer as the next executive Director for the conservation organization. Lauer will take over as the Keweenaw Land Trust executive director in 2025, currently, they serve as the KLT Communication and program specialist.
The Keweenaw Land Trust conducted a nationwide search for its executive director, receiving several qualified applications from candidates. Lauer holds s bachelor’s in biology with a concentration in environmental policy from St Olaf College in Minnesota, and a master’s of arts in communications and journalism, with a specialization in conservation practice, from the University of Maine. She moved to the Keweenaw Peninsula in 2023 and was introduced to the organization by her brother, a long-time volunteer of the Keweenaw Land Trust. After two months of volunteering with KLT Lauer was hired as the communications specialist to enhance the nonprofit’s outreach with the community.
As the organization’s executive director, Lauer aims to successfully expand KLT’s resilience, relevance, and reflexiveity, while continuing its mission.
