League of Women Voters of the Copper Country candidate forum invites 110th District candidates to meet residents

There are less than 45 days until the election. And by Friday there’s less than 38 days until November 5th. On Friday the League of Women Voters in the Copper Country will host its election candidate forum in Houghton County. Inviting candidates in portage township races to meet residents. As well as some time with 110th district candidates representative Markkanen and Ironwood mayor Kim Corcoran.

And then from seven to eight, it will be members of a candidate for the trustees of Portage Township and also for the open supervisor position. So candidates for both of those will be available. We’ve got about four or five that will be attending and we’ll have questions again, same format. – Taryn Mason, First Vice President, League of Women Voters of the Copper Country

The forum functions similar to a debate but does not offer time for rebuttals. The league will offer attendees index cards to write down potential questions, before asking about various topics during the forum.

So it’s very similar, but I think the difference is it isn’t a debate, it’s them just answering questions that we’ve developed and that participants want to ask. So that’s also different than a debate that’s set up. The League of Women Voters of the Copper Country candidate forum in Houghton County will begin at 6 pm on Friday at the Houghton Portage Township Schools auditorium. The league will host a series of forums in Gogebic County at the Gogebic Community College business building next week.
