LWVCC Candidate Forums introduce future leaders to the community

Election season is heating up around the United States as the country moves closer to November. Next week the Copper Country League of Women Voters will host the first candidate forum at the Houghton Portage Township School auditorium. The league has confirmed candidates from Portage Township seeking the supervisor and treasurer roles. The Forum will also allow the public to meet with Michigan House of Representatives 110th district candidates, representative Greg Markkanen and Mayor of Ironwood Kim Corcoran. Candidate forums are great opportunities for the public to learn more about various candidates and their stances on topics. The League of Women Voters of the Copper Country Candidate forum next Friday will begin at 6 pm, inside the Houghton Portage Township School auditorium.

The League has also set up a candidate forum for residents in Gogebic County. On September 30th the public will learn about candidates for the county sheriff role, 110th District Michigan House of Representative candidates. On October 1st a forum will introduce candidates in the county commission race. Both forums in Gogebic County will take place at Gogebic Community College in room B21 of the Business Building. Attendees can access the building from door #12 near the north parking lot. The forum on the 30th will begin at 530 pm and at 6 pm on October 1st.

All forums organized by the League of Women Voters plan to live stream forums via Zoom. And will make an online version available to the public following each event. Those interested in learning more about the Candidate Forums with the League of Women Voters of the Copper Country can find more details below.
