U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awards the Chamber Lock Phase 3 Contract for the New Soo Lock

The United States Army Corps of Engineers awards the 222.7 million dollar chamber lock operational contract to KAT, LLC. Recently the Army Corps of Engineers announced the Chamber Lcok operational contract has been awarded to Kokosing Alberici Traylor from Ohio. The contract will allow construction to proceed for the new fully functional lock. The Option 3 construction includes the lock floor, installation of mechanical and electrical systems, and soil placement between the New Lock and the old Davis Lock. The on-time award, allows the project to continue on track for completion in 2030. The New Lock at the Soo Project has been built in three phases. Starting with the deepening of the channel in 2022, with phase two completed over the summer. The locks have three more contract options to award including downstream work, hands-free mooring, and downstream ship arrestors. The Army Corps expects to award those contracts in the next year.
