The Keweenaw Health Foundation donates 15,000 dollars to the Jim Enrietti Diamond Jubilee Chandelier Restoration Project. In Calumet’s heyday, the Calumet Theater housed a grand crystal chandelier inside its immaculate building. Following a fire, the chandelier was lost, and with it any idea of its design. In recent years the Calumet Theatre’s members and residents of the area have raised money to recreate the chandelier with modern fixtures while keeping with the theater’s intricate period design. The Jim Enrietti Diamond Jubilee chandelier Restoration Project aligns with the foundation’s mission to enhance to well-being of the Keweenaw communities says KHF Executive Director Jenn Jenich-Laplander. Adding the project will add to other restorations within a central point of pride in the Calumet community. The 15,000 dollar donation will mark a significant step forward for the project and help cover costs associated with structural assessments and engineering.
