Matt E. Kiilunen, 87, a resident of Chassell passed away at home on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
He was born on January 21, 1937, in Big Traverse, a son of the late Matt and Lillian (Heikkinen) Kiilunen.
Matt was united in marriage to the former Elaine Pietila.
Mr. Kiilunen was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton and enjoyed spending time outdoors.
Preceding him in death was his son Hans Kiilunen, His sisters; Martha (John) Kowall and Gladys (James) Hammock along with his parents.
Surviving are:
His wife: Elaine Kiilunen
His children: Jennie (Bruce) Kangas, Eva (Karl) Helminen, Amy (Tom) Johnson, Naomi (Eric) Leukuma, Erik (Janine) Kiilunen and Anita (Martin) Tervo
42 grandchildren and 86 great-grandchildren
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many Christian friends.
A Funeral Service for Matt will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton with Mark Halonen to officiate. Burial will be in the Atlantic Mine Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 10 am until time of services at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton
