Calumet Laurium Keweenaw Public Schools names a new superintendent. Joel Asiala will take over as the new district superintendent for CLK schools. In the superintendent role, Asiala will work on developing a forward-thinking approach to drive academic success and overseeing the district’s educational standards. He attended Jeffers High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University in Social studies and physical education. He’s also earned a master of science in special education with an endorsement in Education Administration from the Michigan Association of Secondary Principals. While an educator, Asiala was the principal of the Horizons Alternative School, and at Washington Middle School. He’s also served as a special education teacher for 13 years while working in the Lake Linden Hubbell School District.
