Michigan Technological University honors Doctor Jennifer Becker with the Faculty Distinguished Service Award. Last week Michigan Technological University announced Dr. Jennifer Becker, associate professor of Civil, Environmental, and Geo spatial Engineering, and affiliated associate professor of Biological Sciences, with the Faculty Distinguished Service Award. Becker’s leadership in the establishment of the SARS CoV-2 wastewater testing program during the COVID 19 pandemic. The project was essential to protecting the health and safety of the Michigan Tech community. Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs Andrew Storer says Becker’s dedication and innovative approach went beyond her regular responsibilities, and make her truly deserving of the award. Her area of research and focus of teaching centers around biological treatment processes in environmental engineering. Specifically in bio degradation, microbial ecology, and bio remediation of chlorinated organic groundwater contaminants.
