A hiker at Isle Royale National Park has died of sudden medical complications. On Monday a 37 year old female hiker near Lake LeSage that experienced a sudden onset medical complication. The hiker’s condition deteriorated and she was unable to walk, lost consciousness and stopped breathing. CPR was administered to the hiker, but was unsuccessful. Other hikers in the area were able to contact the Michigan state police through a delayed 911 text. Information was relayed to the park’s dispatch center. Rangers and EMTs located to hiker and party Monday evening. An investigation is ongoing. Those interested in learning more about the incident can find more details here.
