Bill Jamerson Shares Michigan’s Mining History Through Music at the Portage Lake District Library

The Portage Lake District Library enjoys sharing the stories of the Copper Country’s history with the community. Especially when the tales come with a little extra entertainment. This evening the Portage Lake District Library will host Bill Jamerson, and the program Exploring Michigan’s History Through Music.

During tonight’s program, Jamerson will dress in costume, and sing songs central to Michigan’s history and the vibrant communities that call the Upper Peninsula home. Jamerson began collecting stories about the people living in Upper Peninsula mining towns while researching for the PBS film Winter Wonderland. Going on to turn many of the stories into songs. Michigan’s History through Music program with Bill Jamerson tonight at the Portage Lake District Library will begin at  6m. Those interested in learning more about Bill Jamerson and his other musical programs at school, libraries, and community events can find more details here.
