Montero Struggles as Tigers Fall – Saturday Sports Wrap

The Twins scored early and often, and cruised to a 9-3 victory over the Tigers last night. Keider Montero struggled through five innings, allowing six runs on eight hits, including three home runs. Javier Báez homered for the second straight game for Detroit.

The Tigers host the Twins again tonight. Tarik Skubal will pitch against Joe Ryan. Coverage will begin at 5:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit has added Riley Greene to the injured list. He’s been suffering from leg problems, but this injury is listed as a hamstring strain. Ryan Vilade has been called up from Toledo to fill in.

The Brewers lost to the Marlins 6-2 last evening. Freddy Peralta gave up five runs over the first two innings. Rhys Hoskins homered for Milwaukee.

The Brewers host the Marlins again tonight. Aaron Civale will start against Max Meyer.

Milwaukee has placed reliever Rob Zastryzny on the injured list with left elbow tendinitis. Janson Junk has been brought up from Nashville.

NFL

Lions’ kicker Michael Badgely will miss the upcoming season. He’ll need surgery to repair a torn hamstring. The Lions signed former Michigan Panthers kicker Jake Bates this spring, and have begun trying out other kickers, as well.
