MLB
The Tigers collected just two hits in a 2-1 loss to the Guardians last night. One of those was a first-inning homer by Matt Vierling. The power outage spoiled another good start by Jack Flaherty, who gave up an unearned run on three hits over six innings. Beau Brieske gave up the winning run in the eighth inning.
The Tigers conclude that series at Cleveland this afternoon. Detroit is expected to employ another bullpen day. Gavin Williams will start for the Guardians. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Brewers shaded the Cubs 3-2 yesterday. Jackson Chourio had two hits and drove in a run. William Contreras doubled home the winning run in the ninth.
The Brewers have today off, and host the Marlins tomorrow night.
As expected, Milwaukee added Christian Yelich to the injured list yesterday. He’s suffering from back problems. Catcher Gary Sánchez has been brought back from the list, after missing a month with a left calf strain.
