MDOT Notifies Travelers to a Mine Equipment Transport Tomorrow

The Michigan Department of Transportation notifies travelers to a mine equipment transport tomorrow evening. Drivers between Gladstone and the Tilden Mine area may expect travel delays from 11 pm tomorrow, until 5 am Wednesday, for equipment transport. The transport will include a large mine dump truck component that will be moved to the Tilden Mine.

The load will travel on Delta County Roads to M-35, then head north on the highway to M-553. The transport will then continue onto Marquette County Road 480 and back onto M-35. Delays may occur as the haul rig blocks lanes and travel at low speeds. Michigan State Police will escort the oversized load and assist with traffic control along the way. Periodically troopers will stop traffic ahead and behind the load, as well as the rig will pull to the road shoulder to allow traffic to flow at various points.

The state transportation department encourages motorists to avoid traveling in the area from 11 pm Tuesday until 5 am Wednesday if possible. Please use caution and heed all directions from law enforcement. The transport will be rescheduled if weather delays plans.
