Ryan D. Hawn Named New Commanding Officer in Charge of the USCG Air Station – Traverse City

Ryan D. Hawn will become the new Commanding Officer in Charge of the Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City. On Friday the Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City announced a change of command will take place today, with Capt. Andrew G. Schanno passing command to Cmdr. Ryan D Hawn in a formal ceremony.

Outgoing commanding officer Captain Schanno will report to the United States Navy’s Naval War College in Rhode Island as staff in the college’s International School. Under his command, the Traverse City Air Station made continued efforts to ensure the safety of the Great Lakes region.

Commander Hawn will transition to Traverse City after serving as the Chief Pilot of the Air Station Kodiak in Alaska. He says he’s excited to join the experienced team in Traverse City and looks forward to working collaboratively with maritime partners to ensure the safety security and environmental stewardship of the Great Lakes region.
