Michigan State Police Respond to a Fatal Car Crash in Ely Township

Michigan State Police responded to a fatal car crash in Ely Township early Sunday morning. At 12:05 am on Sunday, MSP troopers were dispatched to the scene of a personal injury accident on County Road 482 near County Road CM. Upon arrival, troopers located a white Ford SUV engulfed in flames 30 yards off of the roadway. Troopers immediately attempted to extinguish the fire to aid any occupants inside. The state police say that the vehicle had come to rest on its right side and appeared to have gone through several trees before coming to a stop. The lone occupant, a 17-year-old resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation. MSP troopers were assisted by Ishpeming Township Fire, UPHS Bell, Rescue 131, and Marquette city police.
