Obituary: Betty Louise Kratt

BETTY LOUISE KRATT, age 88, of Twin Lakes, Michigan, formerly of Clarkston, passed away May 25, 2024 in Waterford, MI. in the loving and comforting care of family. 

 She was born on September 30, 1935, in Pontiac, Michigan, daughter of the late Julian and B. Marie Brill (Main). Loving wife of the late Jack Kratt for 43 years; dear mother of Gregory Kratt and Susan Methner; proud grandmother of Nicholas (Chris) Oliver, Daniel Oliver, Amber (fiancé’ Eric) Methner, Somerlee and Savannah Methner; great grandmother of 5. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, in-laws Bud and Lottie Kratt, brother Robert Brill and sisters Evelyn Edwards of Waterford, MI and Erma Wyers of Alpena, MI.

Betty and her husband Jack owned and operated Wyandotte Hills Golf Course, in Twin Lakes, MI from 1986 – 2016. Enjoying the beautiful Upper Peninsula with family and friends on Sandy Lake. When Betty could find the time she enjoyed the winters in Arizonia with Bob and Darlene Sibilsky, Karen Palmer and many others from the UP. She especially enjoyed the time with her grandchildren on the course and in Traverse City, MI. One of their true pleasures every year was hosting a memorial tournament along with Jack’s cousin Bob Sibilsky and Darlene they developed the Kratt/Sibilsky Memorial Golf Tournament to assist High School Seniors with financial support for 20 years. When she turned 81 she finally decided to hang up her golf clubs and retire to spend time at her cabin on Sandy Lake. She was known as the sweetest lady in the Upper Peninsula.

 A graveside service took place at the Ottawa Park Cemetery in Clarkston, Michigan earlier this month. A celebration of her life will be on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the First Lutheran Church of Winona, Winona, MI at 130pm. A lite luncheon will be served following the service at the church. Memorial donations in Betty’s name may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly or the First Lutheran Church of Winona.
