Spring has transitioned into summer officially. So there’s still plenty of time to get the garden bed under control. And plant some fantastic-looking native flowers, and plants in front of the house. Today Keweenaw Wild Ones will begin accepting orders for the native plant group’s annual summer plant sale. Keweenaw Wild Ones President Marcia Goodrich says that the sale offers some great alternatives to the more common garden plants that many don’t realize are considered invasive plants.
We’ve also got wild Bergamont which is a great plant for hummingbirds. The awesome thing about Bergamont is it is related to mint. But it does not spread like mint does. And deer don’t like it. So you don’t have to worry as much about protecting your garden. – Marcia Goodrich, President, Keweenaw Wild Ones
Keweenaw Wild Ones will have to pick up for the summer plant sale on Saturday. Those interested in ordering plants with Keweenaw Wild Ones can find more information here. Including details on how to get involved with the organization.
