Obituary: Milton Erva

     Milton Erva, 89, a resident of the Houghton Canal, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Garden View Assisted Living and Memory Care in Calumet.

      He was born on March 25, 1935, in Hancock, son of the late Walter and Irma (Marx) Erva.  Milt was raised in Liminga and was a graduate of the Houghton High School with the class of1956.

     On October 5, 1957, he was united in marriage to the former Louise Anderson.  The couple resided for a short time in Hancock before moving to make their home on the Houghton Canal.

     Mr. Erva was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton.

     Milton had worked for Vollwerth and Company for over 40 years before his retirement.

Preceding him in death were his wife Louise; his daughter Jennifer Barhorst; his great-grandchildren; Carlee, Rylan and Tage Seppanen, his son-in-law: Jay Seppanen; and his parents.

Surviving are:  His children: Joanne (George) Seppanen Pennala, Marilyn (Brian) Haapapuro, Sue (Mike) Laajala, Dennis (Betsa) Erva, Michael (Noreen) Erva, Colleen Erva & Jason (Kelly) Erva; 37 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren; His sisters-In-law:  Margie Anderson and Shirley Anderson; Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

     A funeral service for Milton will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton with Mark Halonen to officiate.  Burial will be in the Oskar Cemetery.  Friends may call on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 11:00 am until time of service at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton.
