In Twilight League baseball last evening…

MLB
The Tigers salvaged one game of their series against the Nationals with a 7-2 victory yesterday. Casey Mize turned in six strong innings, allowing just one run on four hits. Washington scored their second run off Shelby Miller in the top of seventh, but Detroit plated five in the bottom of the inning to claim the win. Andy Ibáñez and Justyn-Henry Malloy each doubled to power the rally. Malloy homered earlier in the game.
The Tigers visit the Astros tonight. Tarik Skubal will start against Hunter Brown. Coverage will begin at 7:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Brewers had yesterday off, and host the Reds this evening. Freddy Peralta will pitch against Hunter Greene.
Milwaukee may have lost yet another starting pitcher for the season. Rookie Robert Gasser has been diagnosed with an ulnar collateral ligament problem in his throwing elbow. Doctors hope it can be resolved with therapy instead of surgery, but it could take an extended period of rehab. For now, Gasser joins starters Brandon Woodruff, Wade Miley, D.L. Hall, Jakob Junis, and Joe Ross, and closer Devin Williams on the injured list. To add some depth, the Brewers have signed former Reds and Astros reliever Joel Kuhnel to a minor league deal, and assigned him to Nashville.
NBA
The NBA title could be decided tonight, as the Mavericks host the Celtics. Boston leads the championship series 3-0.
NHL
The Panthers held off a late Oilers rally to claim a 4-3 victory last night. Florida leads the Stanley Cup series 3-0, with game four set for tomorrow night in Edmonton.
NFL
The Lions have inked a deal with first-round draft pick Terrion Arnold. The former Alabama defensive back will make at least $14 million over the next four seasons. All of Detroit’s 2024 draft players have now signed with the team.
Fishing
There’s a free kids fishing event tomorrow at the Rockland Pond. Parents are invited to bring their kids between 9:00 and 2:00. Rods and bait will be provided.
Running/Biking
On-site registration and packet pick-up for tonight’s Thatcher Markham Memorial 5k Run/Walk will be open this afternoon from 4 until 6 near the starting line on Dakota Street in Hancock. The race begins at 7.
Online registration for tomorrow’s Keweenaw Chain Drive Festival continues through today. This year’s event includes two courses – one of 13 miles, and one of 22 miles. Both bikers and runners can compete. To sign up, click here.
