Organizers Excited to Put Together the 2024 Bridgefest Lighted Boat Parade

Just one more day before the grand parade kicks off the big weekend. But there’s a second parade. That’s a little closer to the canal. And will include a planet of wacky, and fun displays. The Bridgefest lighted Boat Parade on Saturday. This year’s theme will follow along with the grand parade’s theme. Last year’s parade included some very interesting vessels and props made to look like the Quincy Mine.

“The theme this year is Decades of Freedom. That’s the overall Bridgefest theme. So you decorate your boat with that theme in mind using, you know, blow-up decorations, lights, whatever you see fit. It’s kind of a fun evening. There are prizes for first, second, and third place. Keweenaw Cash and that way if you do win a prize then we can get a hold of you.” – Jason Swain, Owner, Keweenaw Boat Tours

The 2024 Light boat parade will be led out by Jason Swain from Keweenaw Boat Tours. He says that the parade’s return last year was a great event. For spectators on shore, the parade offers some unique fun before the area’s fireworks. While those out on the boats might have some of the best seats for the light show.

“Then everybody kind of makes their way back over to where the fireworks are being shot off at 10:35 pm everyone with their lighted boats kind of in that general area. It’s a bit there’s no better spot to watch fireworks and on the water and the boat. So we all kind of a great time watching the fireworks talk with one another and yeah it’s just overall a great evening. The weather so far looks great. So again if you know somebody has a boat if you have a boat you want to participate in this fun event reach out to me Jason at Kewenaw Boat Tours.” – Jason Swain, Owner, Keweenaw Boat Tours

Swain asks that those interested in taking part in the light boat parade contact him as soon as possible so he can coordinate launches at the east Houghton docks. Boat parade participants will meet over by the Super 8 motel in Houghton starting around 8 pm on Saturday. The boat parade will begin at 9:45 pm. Those interested in participating should contact Jason Swain from Keweenaw Boat Tours with questions. Find more information about registration and how to contact Swain here.
