Copper Country Angel Mission Starts Socks and Undies Drive for Local Children

Throughout the year the Copper Country Angel mission works with groups to create item drives for local children. In the fall the Copper Country Angel Mission holds an annual backpack drive that supplies school items to kids. This summer the organization will work on a second item drive with help from Bethany Lutheran’s Faithful Innovations Team and Walmart in Houghton for underwear and socks. The Socks and Undies drive recently guaranteed special pricing on items from Walmart for the campaign, however, the group will need to raise 500 dollars to purchase the items. The Copper Country Angel Mission says that the socks and underwear will be included with the annual backpack drive in the fall, and will distribute items with school supplies. Around the area, the Angel mission has set up drop-off box locations at the Portage Lake United Church, one in Houghton, at the Bethany Lutheran Church, and in Mohawk and Copper Harbor at the Shepard of the Sea Chapel. Those interested in giving a monetary donation to the sock and undies drive can mail support to the Bethany Lutheran of the Keweenaw.

If there’s an immediate need, please contact the Store at (906) 729-6789.

Collection boxes are at Portage Lake United Church, Houghton, Bethany Lutheran, Mohawk & Sheperd of the Sea Chapel, Copper Harbor.

Monetary donations can be mailed to Bethany Lutheran of the Keweenaw, PO Box 315, Mohawk, 49950.
