Since 1974 Baraga Houghton Keweenaw Child Development has worked with families to help kids grow. This year the organization celebrates its fiftieth anniversary. The celebration will invite the community to join the organization during a festive evening that’ll include appetizers and a silent auction.
It’s going to be a great time with friends and fellow partners who have worked alongside us for the last 50 years. The event is going to have a silent auction, and all proceeds from that event are going to support our BHK Foundation, which funds our three scholarships for local students and past BHK students and is just a wonderful opportunity to support their ongoing education after they graduate from high school. – Katie Waara, Health Services Director, BHK Child Development
BHK Child Development has offered a variety of programs to the local area over its existence. From families involved in prenatal programs to students in preschool, many people in the community have felt the organization’s impact. Even beyond helping a child develop the building blocks for success, the organization has helped older students go on to secondary education programs with the BHK Foundation.
We’ve had a huge outpouring and it’s incredibly humbling to know not only our past students, you know, now business owners and able to give back and support, now new students coming through BHK, but the variety of support is incredible. We are blessed and we are feeling that everybody else has felt that BHK has made a huge impact in their life. – Katie Waara, Health Services Director, BHK Child Development
