Before the plane can get off the water, Isle Royale Seaplane will need to complete a public hearing with the Department of Environment Great Lakes and Energy. This evening EGLE will hold a public hearing for the Isle Royale Seaplane docks. Isle Royale Seaplane has applied for a permit under authority of par 301, for inland lakes and streams, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act of 1994. Per the application proposal after-the-fact construction of a 12-foot wide boat launch extending 30 feet below the ordinary high water mark on Torch Lake. The ramp would consist of 10 concrete planks and up to 18 cubic yards of gravel. Additionally, the dock will require five 10-inch diameter pilings driven into the lake bottom. The completed dock will serve as the marina for launching and mooring private and commercial seaplanes. There is an online option available for the hearing. Those interested in registering for the online public hearing can find more details here.
