Betty June Altz, age 81, of Alston, Michigan passed away on Saturday, May 18th, 2024 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
Betty was born November 7, 1942 in Romeo, MI, daughter of Daniel and Rosie (Hangya) Cain. She married Richard Altz on July 7, 1962 in Romeo, MI. They resided in Washington, MI until 1969, when they moved to a farm in Imlay City, MI, where they raised their family. Her son, Aaron Herman Altz died in 1994 as a result of an accident. Following this devastating loss, in 1999 she was filled with joy by the birth of her grandson, Aaron Altz, whom she was blessed to help raise him. In 2005, they moved to Alston and had a small farm.
Betty loved God and was a member of Christian Ministry of Shepherd’s Chapel. Her favorite times of the year are spring with the flowers blooming and the peepers in the ponds, and the fall with the leaves changing. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, sewing, crocheting, listening to gospel and country music. Betty enjoyed the outdoors, flower gardens, and watching humming birds on the deck.
Surviving are her loving husband of 62 years, Richard Altz of Alston; son Rich (Sandy) Altz of Arnheim; grandson Aaron Altz of Alston; sisters, Suzanne (Aaron) Amburgey of Wales Twp, MI, Christine Fisher of New Baltimore, MI, Catherine Helen Snyder of Port Huron, MI; numerous nieces and nephews.
