Visit Keweenaw Launches The Crossing Place Online Series Documenting the People Living in the Keweenaw

Visit Keweenaw launches a new social media documentary series sharing the stories and exploring the inspirations of the people living in the Keweenaw Peninsula. The series titled The Crossing Place, derives its name from the deep Ojibwe heritage tied to the region. Keweenaw translates in Ojibwe to the crossing place, for the natural waterway created by the Portage Canal. Throughout the series, Visit Keweenaw will help share the stories of the industries, places, people, and history of the Keweenaw Peninsula. The unique campaign to spread awareness of the Copper Country’s wealth of experiences, back then and today, across Visit Keweenaw’s YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok accounts. Content Coordinator and Filmmaker Amanda Makela says that the series will strive to honor this amazing place by impressing upon its viewers the deep sense of love and responsibility all subjects have to their environment, communities, and living histories.
