Michigan Technological University Parade of Nations announces the winner of the annual student logo competition. Isabella Tampas from Lake Linden High School has been selected as the 2024 Parade of Nations Logo contest winner for her design encapsulating the theme of Holidays Around the World.
The Parade of Nations is an annual tradition at Michigan Tech that celebrates the coming together of cultures in the Copper Country and introduces the university’s international students to the local community and local student body.
This year’s theme Holidays from around the world inspired students from across the region to submit hand-drawn artwork with the youthful joy found at holiday festivities and celebrations around the globe. Nearly 60 students from local schools participated in the competition from grades at all levels, using different styles, mediums, and knowledge of several cultures. Amanda Makala says that this year’s student submissions showed the creative support students receive from parents and education. Isabella’s design truly embodies the spirit of the Parade of Nations and will serve as a fitting symbol for this year’s event. Isabella Tampas’ design for the 2024 parade logo features several people from various nations standing side by side with festive symbols in between around the globe and the parade’s theme and name in colorful typography encircling the design. During the event, the Parade of Nations will honor Tampas by inclusion in the ceremony and parade, as well as the design used for marketing materials and promotion.
