Registration has opened for one of the Michigan DNR’s most popular programs. The Becoming an Outdoor Woman program with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources encourages women and girls to get outdoors and learn outdoor skills. BOW Coordinator Michelle Douglas says the program allows participants to learn at their own pace and puts an emphasis on enjoying recreational activities in Michigan’s great outdoors. The summer Becoming an Outdoor Woman program offers instruction on more than two dozen activities at the Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay. Registration for the program costs 300 dollars and includes lodging and food as well as most supplies and equipment. There are a limited number of BOW scholarships available for low-income participants. Scholarship applications are due by May 8th. Those interested in learning more about the Becoming an Outdoor Woman program with the Michigan DNR can find more details on the summer program, registration, and scholarship details here.
