The first race weekend in the Copper Country will start tomorrow morning with the 2024 Sisu Shuffle. While not a directly competitive running event. Sisu Shuffle offers the first opportunity for runners and walkers to lace up their shoes and get out for the running season. This year the shuffle will make a return to the Keweenaw Snowmobile Trail for the majority of this year’s route.
“Because this is the first time in a while that we are returning to the snowmobile trails. So we’ll start at the hospital, head down toward the fair grounds, and are able to use the snowmobile trail for the majority of the 5 K.” – Angela Luskin, Community Health Coordinator, UPHS – Portage
Sisu Shuffle invites the entire community from individuals to families to get out and stay active this spring and summer. Participants who have not registered yet can still do so online. Tomorrow morning shufflers will gather at the UPHS Portage Hospital before heading out on the trail. Strollers and leashed pets are allowed during the event. Organizers ask participants to leave bikes at home for safety concerns. The sisu shuffle will take off tomorrow at 9 am.
