Celebrate the U.P. with UPEC at the Orpheum Theater in Hancock

Spring is the season for celebrating. The Upper Peninsula Environmental Coalition will celebrate the U.P. tomorrow. The UPEC will host everything that makes up the Upper Peninsula from the smallest agate to the biggest tree.

This year’s Celebrate the U.P. conference will go with the theme of Critical Lands and Critical Mineral. Following a brief membership meeting, the event will start with its first speaker Karen Brzys. She plans to talk about the history of Lake Superior agate and some rock-hounding tips. She’ll be followed by Steve Waller to speak on Tree and forest management. Ray Wglarzs will share stories of paddling on the wild rivers in the western region. Then Thomas Peacock from the Fond Du Loc Band of Lake Superior Ojibwa will present, “ The Wolf’s Tale; An Ojibwe Story, Told by Wolves”.

Celebrating the U.P. with UPEC will begin at 12:30 pm tomorrow at the Orpheum Theater.
