The Portage Lake Pioneers and Calumet Wolverines will open the Gibson Cup series tonight. Faceoff for game one has been moved up to 7:00 at Dee Stadium. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on KBear 102.3. Game two will be played at the Colosseum tomorrow at 7:30. If needed, game three will take place at the Dee Saturday.

The Red Wings visit the Capitals tonight. Coverage begins at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift. With four games remaining, the Wings remain tied with the Penguins, one standings point behind the Capitals in the race for the final Eastern Conference wild card playoff berth.
Andrew Copp will miss tonight’s game. He was struck in the face by a stick in Tuesday’s loss to the Capitals, and suffered a broken cheekbone. Michael Rasmussen will miss his third straight game with an upper body injury. Zach Aston-Reese has been called up from Grand Rapids to help fill in.
NBA
The Pistons host the Bulls this evening. Detroit has three games remaining. A loss tonight would set a new team record for most losses in a season.
MLB
The Tigers had yesterday off, and will host the Twins this afternoon. Tarik Skubal will start against Pablo López. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Brewers shut down the Reds 7-2 last evening. Christian Yelich and Blake Perkins homered. Jackson Chourio had two hits and drove in two runs. After a nearly two-hour rain delay, Wade Miley turned in four shutout innings in his first start of the season.
The Brewers conclude that set in Cincinnati this afternoon. Freddy Peralta will pitch against Nick Martinez.
College Basketball
Longtime college basketball coach Kevin Borseth has announced his retirement. Borseth graduated from Bessemer High School. He began his collegiate coaching career with Gogebic Community College, before he took over at Michigan Tech…
Borseth spent 11 seasons leading the Huskies women’s team, compiled a record of 225 wins and 97 losses, and won four Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles. In 1998, he moved to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, where he had similar success. In 2007, he took over as coach of the University of Michigan women’s team, but he returned to Green Bay five years later. Borseth closes his 42-year career with a record of 821 wins and 316 losses. His career win total ranks 19th in all of women’s college basketball history.
