Dark Sky Festival Returns Tomorrow to the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge for Three Days

An old saying in Michigan says if you don’t like the weather wait five minutes. The factors that create each day’s weather patterns are influenced by interactions between the oceans, Earth’s diverse landscapes, solar radiation, and motion in space.

Starting tomorrow the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge will host the annual Dark Sky Festival. Michigan’s elusive Northern Lights and night sky events are glimpses into a different type of weather, that fascinates many. Solar flares that often create dancing light shows in northern latitudes are one example of how space can influence weather on Earth.

During the Dark Sky festival participants will learn about nighttime photography, stargazing in the Keweenaw, local ecology, the impacts of light pollution on landscapes, and some solar secrets. The three-day festival does include lunch during the events. Tickets for the festival cost 200 dollars for an individual.
