MLB – Tigers Fall from First
Shane Greene made another early exit, as the Detroit Tigers lost to the Chicago White Sox 5-2 last night. Detroit took an early lead on an Ian Kinsler RBI single in the first inning, and an Alex Avila home run in the second. They got only four hits from there on out. Meanwhile, after scoring a run in the first inning, the Sox chased Greene from the game with four more in the third inning. That series continues in Chicago tonight. Alfredo Simon will start against Chris Sale. Hear the first pitch at 8:10 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
The Royals won last night, and now lead Detroit by a half-game in the American League Central Division.
Tigers’ officials hope to learn more about Justin Verlander’s strained triceps muscle today. Doctors are reviewing an MRI that was done yesterday. Verlander has missed a month after suffering what appeared to be a minor injury late in spring training.
The Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-2. Matt Garza cruised through five shutout innings before surrendering a three-run homer to Justin Turner in the sixth. Reliever Neal Cotts gave up two more home runs in the seventh.
The Brewers host the Dodgers again tonight. Wily Peralta will pitch against Joe Wieland.
