As received from Memorial Chapel Funeral and Cremation Service:
Julie Anna Maki, 61, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024. Julie was born on October 10, 1962 to the late Patricia Davis and late Albert Warnez in Royal Oak, MI. Julie graduated from Goodrich High School in 1980 and briefly attended Mott Community College before moving up to the Upper Peninsula in 1983.
Shortly after moving to the Upper Peninsula, Julie met her future husband, Bruce Maki, on a blind date set up by a friend. Just six months later, Julie and Bruce were united in marriage at Grace Lutheran Church in South Range, MI on October 22, 1983 and celebrated 40 wonderful years of marriage last fall.
In 1987, Julie graduated from Suomi College and went on to be employed at Copper Country Mental Health for 35 years, where many of her co-workers became dear friends.
Julie and Bruce resided in Atlantic Mine, MI where they raised their two children, Kendra and Caleb.
Some of Julie’s greatest joys were spending time with her family and friends, especially with her granddaughter, Hazel, and her dogs, Nemo and Darla. She spent a lot of time outside going for walks and working in her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She was known for her healthy cooking and baking, love for reading, dancing, and watching home remodeling shows.
Julie was a woman of strong faith and always had an encouraging word or scripture to share with others. She spent a lot of her time studying the Bible and looked forward to her weekly women’s group gatherings.
Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Mark and Brian Warnez.
Surviving are:
Her husband: Bruce Maki of Atlantic Mine, MI
Her children: Kendra (Jason) Hulkonen of Atlantic Mine, MI
