Obituary: Biddle R. Almli

Biddle R. Almli, age 86 of Aura, MI passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in L’Anse on April 14, 1937 the son of the late Paul and Alice (Piper) Almli. Biddle graduated from L’Anse High School. He married the former Janice Campeau in L’Anse on July 5, 1958. She preceded him in death in 1994. Biddle had sailed the Great Lakes from 1955 until 1958. He had been employed at UPPCO as a plant supervisor retiring in 1992. Biddle was a member of United Lutheran Church, L’Anse, L’Anse Hockey Association, and the Fossom Club. He enjoyed being on Lake Superior, boating to Isle Royal, hunting, fishing, cutting firewood, making maple syrup, dancing, and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

Biddle is survived by his loving children Jane (Buddy) Sweeney of L’Anse and Bart (Toni) Almli of WI, grandchildren Terra Sweeney (Blaine Wood) of L’Anse, Jesse (Heather) Sweeney of De Pere, Wi, Emily Almli of WI, and Megan Saari of Oregon, great grandchildren Lexy Sweeney, Stella Sweeney, Parker Sweeney, and Easton Sweeney, brother-in-law Hubie Campeau, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his girlfriend Nona Uren of L’Anse. Biddle was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Janice, daughter Donna Lynn Almli, and sister Alice Mae Seratti.

A celebration of life service will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024 at United Lutheran Church, L’Anse with family friend Renee Eliason officiating. The family will greet friends at the church on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Immediately following the service, the family invites friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon at the church.
