The Hancock Trails Club has purchased a new ski grooming tool that will help operators treat trails faster.
The Hancock Trails Club recently purchased a Ginzu, manufactured by Yellowstone Track Systems, that creates a smoother more compact trail with a wider path than the club’s old groomer. The club used funds from membership fees, business sponsors, and a grant from the Community Foundation of the Upper Peninsula’s Upper Peninsula Sustainable Forest and Wildlife Fund to purchase the new equipment.
The club’s winter grooming pattern provides 25 kilometers of Nordic ski trails and another 2 kilometers of mountain biking and hiking trails in the Maasto Hiihto/Churning Rapids Trail systems. The trailheads are located at the Hancock Dog Park and near the Hancock Department of Public Works on Tomasi Drive.
The Community Foundation of the Upper Peninsula, located in Escanaba, awards semi-annual grant funds to several projects in the region.
