Upper Peninsula Dark Sky Festival Returns in Less than a Month

In less than a month aurora chasers from across the country plan to travel to one of the country’s greatest regions to catch the Northern Lights. The Keweenaw Dark Sky Park at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge will host the 2nd annual Upper Peninsula Dark Sky Festival in mid-April. The festival brings together aurora-curious and dedicated night sky photographers to learn about the Northern Light phenomena.

During the three days and nights visitors will have opportunities to enjoy night hikes, and night and low light photography classes, hear from various guest speakers that work with Michigan Tech University’s physics department, and have a prime opportunity to view the northern lights. Always unpredictable, that festival also shares an educational program that will talk about the science behind the northern lights and the basics of reading aurora prediction models.

A single-person ticket for the three-day Dark Sky Festival will cost 200 dollars. Last year’s festival sold out very fast, and the final day to receive a full refund ends today.
