Obituary: Barbara R. Jackovich

Barbara R. Jackovich, 95, a resident of Dodgeville passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the Omega House in Houghton.

She was born on November 3, 1928, in Painesdale, MI, a daughter of the late Peter & Mary (Yotich) Gerzetich. As a child, Barbara attended the Jeffers Schools.

She then moved to Chicago where she worked for her sister’s company, Affy Tafy Carmel Apple. She then returned to Painesdale, where she worked for Copper Range Laundry.

On June 22, 1957, she was united in marriage to Frank “Blondie” Jackovich. The couple had resided in Dodgeville, where they raised two sons.

Mrs. Jackovich was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church of South Range and the Croatian Fraternal Union. She enjoyed cooking cabbage rolls and making homemade noodle soup and Povitica.

Preceding her in death were her husband Blondie, her parents, 5 brothers, 4 sisters; 5 Sisters-in-law and 9 brothers-in-law.

Surviving are:

Her sons: Frank Jackovich of Painesdale

     Gerald Jackovich of Dodgeville

Her grandson: Frank Jackovich Jr. of Lincoln Park, MI

Her brother-in-law: Gerald (Darlene) Stachowiak of South Range

Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

A mass of Christian burial for Barbara will be held 11:00 am Saturday, March 16, 2024, at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic with Fr. John Martignon to celebrate. 

Friends may call on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 10:00 am until time of services at the church.
