Helping Victims Become Resilient Readers

Reading about someone else’s healing journey can help guide trauma victims on their path. Copper Shores Victim Support will soon launch a new book club to offer support to adults navigating the healing journey through literature. Victim Support Advocate Rachel Lamppa says that Copper Shores wants to look for more ways to help victims after they make first contact with the agency and refer them to resources in the region. Adding that when people feel alone reading about someone’s own story can help them understand their own needs. While bringing people together with the Resilient Reader’s book club.

Every other month, members will dive deep into carefully selected books that resonate with themes of resilience growth, and healing. The first book for the group’s resilient readers titled The Origins of You by Vienna Pharaon focuses on breaking harmful familial patterns to build healthy and loving relationships Participants in the book club can pick up a free copy of The Origins of You from the Coppers Shores during March and April before the first book club meeting in late May.
