Shirley Mae Paul (Kilpela), 93, of Southfield, MI passed away at Beaumont Hospital in Farmington Hills, MI on Monday February 19, 2024, where she had been a patient for 2 weeks. Shirley was born in Schoolcraft Township on Saturday January 3, 1931 to Mae (Ranta) and Helmer Kilpela. She graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1948.
Shirley was married to Phillip Curtis Paul on February 14, 1953. She worked for more than 40 years at Guardian Industries in Northville, MI, retiring in 1995. She loved spending her summers at her camp on Lake Medora and going to the casino. People that knew Shirley always mention what a classy lady she was.
She is survived by her sister Elizabeth Bellaire, half-sister Jean Winquist (Westola), and half-brother Robert Westola, and various nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Phillip, father Helmer Kilpela, mother Mae (Westola), and stepfather Lawrence Westola.
Gravesite service at 11AM on Wednesday May 22 at Lake View Cemetery.
