Three women were injured in a two-car crash Thursday afternoon near Atlantic Mine.
Houghton County Sheriff’s deputies were called out at around 1:30 to M-26, near the Erickson Drive intersection. They discovered that a northbound vehicle had collided with a vehicle traveling in the southbound lane.
The 17-year-old female driver of the northbound vehicle was trapped inside. She was extricated, and both she and her 17-year-old passenger were transported to U.P Health System Portage for treatment.
The 26-year-old driver of the southbound vehicle was also trapped, and was transported to U.P Health System Portage for treatment after being extricated.
The names of those involved, and their conditions, have not been released.
The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Houghton City Police, Michigan DNR, and Michigan State Police.
Also working in conjunction with Law Enforcement was Adams and Stanton Township First Responders, Mercy Ambulance, Adams Township and Hurontown Fire Departments, and several other members of the community.
The crash is remains under investigation.
