Superior Health Foundation Names Megan Murphy as New Executive Director

Superior Health Foundation has selected a new executive director that will take over in May. Megan Murphy has been named as the new executive director of the Superior Health Foundation following the announcement last month that Jim LaJoie will retire in the spring. When Murphy takes over in May she will bring with her more than 15 years of non-profit and university-based research experience. President of SHF’s board of directors, Sara Giles says that the impact of the foundations grants have profound impacts on the region’s rural communities and the board looks forward to seeing how Murphy’s vision and strategy will reach all areas of the Upper Peninsula.

Murphy earned her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and International Relations from Grand Valley State University and her Master of Public Administration degree from Western Michigan University. Her most recent post was as the director for Community Health and Capacity Building for the Michigan Health Endowment Fund. In that role, Murphy was responsible for spearheading a 6.5 million dollar grant-making program to improve the health of communities. She first joined the Michigan Health Endowment Fund in 2016 as a grants manager.

Murphy will take over for LaJoie starting in May. Lajoie has been with the Superior Health Foundation since 2012. Find more information here.
