Local Proposals Appearing on February Primary Ballots

Three Tuesdays from today residents will fill polling places to cast their first votes in 2024. This year is a presidential election cycle. February’s upcoming primary vote will include several candidates for both Republicans and Democrats for Michigan voters to choose between.

However, the primary polls will also include several local proposals for voters to also consider. In Stanton township, voters will decide on increasing the fire department’s mileage to the standard 2 mills. Laurium residents will consider millage renewal for snow removal in the village. Laurium officials estimate the millage renewal will generate close to 29,000 dollars for the Municipal Street Fund’s snow removal operations. A final proposal affects voters in the Adams Township School District. Voters in the school district will consider the Adams Township School District millage renewal of 19.2 mills over nine years.

Additionally, Houghton County Clerk Jennifer Kelly has scheduled the primary’s accuracy test for February 12th, at 10 am. The Michigan Primary will take place on February 27th. Find a list of individual presidential primary candidates here.
