Canal Run Gives Back Will Support the Copper Country Humane Society in 2024

The season might not seem ideal for running. But plenty of Upper Peninsula residents still find the time to get up. Get their shoes on and go for a run around the block. Among those who brave the cold for some cardio are plenty of residents who will also take part in Canal Run, when the running conduits are much more ideal.

Organizers are planning the 2024 Canal Run, even hosting a kick-off party at Copper Country running this morning. Recently organizers announced the run’s non-profit beneficiary. In 2024 Canal Run’s non-profit partner is the Copper Country Humane Society. CCHS has served animals in the copper country for 50 years with many dedicated staff and passionate volunteers. The shelter is fully funded by donations and fundraising events or partnerships. Which are used for the medical care/needs of around 900 animals annually. Since 2011 Canal Run Gives Back has donated 25,000 dollars to non-profits serving and operating in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon counties. The community can begin registering for Canal Run as a runner or volunteer. Canal Run is scheduled to take place on July 20th. Watch for more Canal Run information as the Copper Country moves into spring and summer.

The Canal Run Kick-Off Party will begin at 11:30 a.m. today at the Copper Country Running Company in downtown Houghton. CCRC is located at 318 Sheldon Avenue.
