Support For No-Fault Auto Insurance Reform Failing

Republicans in the state House are struggling to find enough votes to change Michigan’s 37-year old no fault auto insurance law.

The measure flew out of the state Senate in record time but has stalled in the lower chamber.

It would remove lifetime benefits for crash victims in an attempt to reduce the cost of auto insurance.

Opposition to the proposed changes is rising.

The Michigan Health and Hospital Association has begun a TV ad campaign featuring a woman who was critically injured in an accident and will need care and therapy for the rest of her life.

A recent survey found Michigan residents pay the highest premiums for auto insurance in the nation.
