Due to school closing in the region (1/15/24), the Copper Country Killer Whales will cancel the first practice of the season. Please contact organizers for more information regarding future practice times and dates.
Copper Country Killer Whales swim season will start in just about one week. The local youth swim club introduces youth to the world of competitive swimming and will begin practices next Monday. The Copper Country Killer Whales practice three times a week, with teams of various skill levels. New swimmers interested in joining the Copper Country Killer Whales will need to pass a skills assessment with a KW coach. The Killer Whales program does not, teach to swim, but helps students with a passion for competitive swimming build upon their skills. The Future Stars programs are for youth aged 10 and under. While intermediate teams start at age 11. Parents or students interested in joining the Copper Country Killer Whales can learn more about the program online or by contacting the non-profit’s leadership. Find more details and contact information here.
How to Join as a new swimmer:
1) Pass Skill Assessment by KW Coach: We are not a learn-to-swim program – new swimmers must pass a skill assessment conducted by our coaches before being able to join the team. See our website for more information and if you have questions, please ask!
2) Please fill out online registration paperwork prior to attending the Skills Assessment.
3) Show up ready to swim at a practice for a Killer Whales Coach to conduct the Skills Assessment. Please don’t pay any fees until after your kiddo passes.
Due to safety concerns we cannot accept kids into our program until they are able to pass the Skills Assessment. Our coaches assessment is final and only the KW coaches can conduct an allowable assessment (we do not accept parent or other skills assessment signoffs).
