Hubbell VFW Post 4624 members award Lake Linden and Dollar Bay middle school and high school students as a part of the Patriot’s Pen and Voice of Democracy Essay contests. On an annual basis, the National Veterans of Foreign Wars Association organizes and sponsors the two Essa contests asking middle school and high school students to share their views on topics centered on veterans or democracy. This year’s Patriots pen contest asked students how are inspired by America. While students submitting essays to the Voice of Democracy contest were asked What are the greatest attributes of our democracy? The contest also asks students to present a three to five-minute presentation on their essay. The VFW presented 425 dollars in prize money to the top three essays in each category. The first-place essays will now go on to be judged in the VFW District 15 competition. Find more details posted by the Hubbell VFW 4624 Post here.
